Good long wearing track day brake pad

Postby HondaMick » Mon Mar 09, 2015 8:08 pm

Hi all. I have managed to use a set of Goldfren GP5 front brake pads in my RSV1000 in 3 Bradford track days.
I need some new ones. Anyone had good or bad experiences?
3 days in my eyes is just not good enough for my tight ass budget. Maybe I'm wrong? How many days does everyone else get?

I've only ever used EBC HH pads, they've lasted for ages. $60 a side fairly standard stuff.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the EBCs. If you know what your running JM I'm all ears.
I been riding my old fireblade for 8 or more track days with pads it came with. They still look like they have plenty of pad left. I was shocked at the wear rate of the Goldfren GP5 pads. I suspect aftermarket "wave" discs that have lots of slots are a big factor in the stupid wear rate.

Hey Mick,
I'm using  "Performance Friction" Carbon Metallic Racing High Performance Brake Pads.
They are ridiculously good and I've had they same set in for at least 20 track days with lots left on them at a guess at least another 20 days. Mind you lots of those days would be Phillip Island.
They put a coating unto your rotors to help with feel. So the first time you use them you are meant to clean your rotors. Then do 5 laps at 80 %. Come in and let them cool down then go as hard as you can. They are the bomb! But they cost a lot.
