Phillip Island April 1

Postby dirtydannyd » Wed Feb 13, 2013 10:21 am

Just posting up another trackday I'm attending. I'll be in the Med Slow group. Going to be aiming for <1:59.999999999999

Does anyone have any experience running a 99 - 05 R6? If so, what sort of gearing did you run?

Cheers,

Dan.

Hey Sammy. Yup it is definite... for me!!!
Not surprised it's booked out being a public holiday and all. Shame you can't book. Would have been good to meet you.

Saw you post your 1.54. Good work dude. I'm going to try for a 1.55. 3rd time out on the R6. 2nd time at the island. Previous best was 2.02 (slow group, traffic and optimal time of 1.59). I recon it might be a goer. Will report back :D

Hey Dan... yea i wasnt able to book in advance given my work, always an issue this time of year. free now though.
I might even drag the bike there on the off chance theres a spill or no show early on ( heaven forbid the spill).

If you book a garage let me know the number.

cheers for now.

Yeah, I will be in a garage but I'll rock up to one on the day.

If you do come down then have a look for me. It's the bike in my avatar, black 99 R6 with little monster energy stickers on the front lower fairing. Oh, and red tyre warmers

Hey Danny, when you get to the track (early) you can register for a garage before you drive in (with the Ride day staff)..
They'll ask how many then give you a garage number..

Hey Sammy, did you make it down?

Thanks Byron. Will do that next time.

As for me, I did a 2:00.39!!!!! FML man, .40 of a second off getting into the 1's!!! Had a really good day though. Optimal lap time was 1:58.3 so it's definitely doable.
The gearing (14-48) was perfect for me. I hit about 14k RPM in 6th down the main straight. Racechrono said I topped out at 234 which is about 12kays quicker than last time with the standard gearing. Gradually learning which gear to be in at every corner. I know I'm loosing time between turns 9 and 11. Also cutting in too early on turn 2.

Very comfortable with the left knee down. Still having difficulty getting the right knee down. Funny, it was the same at broadford. Left turns are easier for me for some reason.

Bring on the next one :bounce:
